What is the diet for atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is a disease that develops in childhood and becomes apparent after middle age. The treatment of atherosclerosis must be timely. In addition to conventional treatment, the diet of atherosclerosis also needs attention. The diet must be light.

1. Eat a light diet and eat more foods rich in vitamin C (such as fresh vegetables, fruits and melons) and plant protein (such as beans and their products). Try to use vegetable oils such as peanut oil, soybean oil, and rapeseed oil as cooking oil. People with hypertension or heart failure should also limit their salt intake. It is recommended not to smoke or drink strong alcohol.

2. Control the total calories of the diet to maintain a normal body weight. It is recommended to eat a light diet and eat more foods rich in vitamin C (such as fresh vegetables, fruits and melons) and plant protein (such as beans and their products). Try to use vegetable oils such as peanut oil, soybean oil, and rapeseed oil as cooking oil. People who have been diagnosed with coronary atherosclerosis are strictly prohibited from overeating to avoid inducing angina pectoris or myocardial infarction. People with hypertension or heart failure should also limit their salt intake.

3. Focus on reducing animal fat and protein in food, and strictly control meat food at each meal. Because even the leanest cuts of meat contain 10-20% animal fat, excess fat should be eliminated from the meat you eat and fat intake should be reduced to a minimum. Don't eat chicken skin because it contains a high proportion of fat. Eat pork or beef no more than 3 times a week. It is best to eat chicken or fish (excluding shellfish) at other times because they contain less saturated fatty acids than pork, beef and other meats.

4. Reduce cholesterol intake. No more than three egg yolks a day (including other foods), aquatic shellfish (lobster, shrimp, oysters) should be eaten only 2 to 3 times a month, and less liver, kidney and other internal organs should be eaten, because the internal organs contain a lot of cholesterol and fat.
