Limb arteriosclerosis, you need to know these

Limb arteriosclerosis is very common in clinical practice. It is a disease in which atherosclerotic lesions involve the arteries of the limbs and may also cause chronic occlusion. People with atherosclerosis in the limbs must pay attention to keeping warm, and also need to pay attention to care in diet and lifestyle.

1. Limb arteriosclerosis is a disease in which atherosclerotic lesions affect the arteries of the limbs and cause chronic occlusion. Due to atherosclerotic plaques and their internal bleeding or plaque rupture, secondary thrombosis occurs, which gradually produces lumen stenosis or occlusion, leading to clinical manifestations such as ischemia of the affected limbs, which is more common in the lower limbs, especially the leg arteries. Due to blood supply disorders, the lower limbs become cold, numb and intermittent claudication, that is, numbness, pain and even spasm of the gastrocnemius muscles occur when walking, which disappears after rest and reappears when walking again; in severe cases, there may be persistent pain and weakened or disappeared pulsation in the lower limb arteries, especially the dorsalis pedis artery. If the arterial lumen is completely blocked, gangrene may occur.

2. Arteriosclerosis in the limbs requires protection from cold and keeping warm, especially in winter, because poor microcirculation causes insufficient blood and oxygen supply to peripheral tissues, resulting in cold limbs and fear of cold. Usually, avoid greasy food and animal offal, maintain an optimistic and positive attitude, do not stay up late, and avoid alcohol and smoking.

3. Arteriosclerosis of the limbs is mostly caused by diabetes and hypertension. The treatment mainly focuses on controlling blood pressure and blood sugar, and then anticoagulation, lipid-lowering and improving microcirculation. First of all, we must actively control blood pressure and blood sugar to achieve the standard. Then we must strengthen lipid-lowering treatment and use drugs that dilate blood vessels and improve microcirculation.
