Herpes on the lips is generally easier to diagnose, and can recur due to various stimuli such as sun exposure and fever. The virus can proliferate in large quantities on the chorioallantoic membrane of chicken embryos and in cultured animal cells of humans, monkeys, chickens, etc. In addition, type 2 virus has a transforming effect on vole cells, etc. Herpes viruses are also suspected to be associated with cervical cancer in humans.

Symptomatic treatment

Mainly general and symptomatic treatment. Principles: Anti-viral, reduce pain, prevent secondary infection, and shorten the course of the disease. ①Neuralgia: Analgesics such as aspirin, acetaminophen, indomethacin, ibuprofen, Xinhuang tablets, etc. can be given. Postherpetic neuralgia requires the combined use of analgesics and sedatives, such as doxepin 25 mg, taken orally 3 times a day; cimetidine 0.2 g, dexamethasone 1.5 mg, cyproheptadine 2 mg, taken orally 3 times a day, and vitamin B12 100 micrograms, injected intramuscularly once a day, for a total of 10 days.
