A person has two sets of teeth in his life. One set is called deciduous teeth, which start to grow from about 6 months after birth and start to fall out at the age of 6. After the deciduous teeth fall out, a set of permanent teeth gradually grow out for lifelong use. From the age of 6 to 12 is the period of replacement of deciduous teeth with permanent teeth. There are 20 deciduous teeth, 10 in the maxillary and mandibular parts, and 32 permanent teeth, 16 in the maxillary and mandibular parts.

4. Why do I feel pain when wisdom teeth appear? Because wisdom teeth are the last to grow, the distance between the distal end of the mandible and the second pair of large molars is very small at this time, there is not enough space for the wisdom teeth to grow, and the crown can only partially grow out. If the alveolar bone is very hard, the wisdom tooth will grow in the direction of the porous alveolar bone, resulting in the wisdom tooth growing in a horizontal position or growing tilted in the mesial direction, which will cause a feeling of swelling and pain. If the surface of the tooth crown is covered by a part of the gums, a pocket will be formed between the tooth surface and the gums. Food residues will easily accumulate in the pocket. When brushing your teeth and rinsing your mouth, the food residues are not easy to wash out, which creates favorable conditions for the growth and reproduction of bacteria. When the body's resistance is low, the gums of wisdom teeth often become inflamed.

5. Normal wisdom teeth are beneficial for chewing. If they are in the wrong position and difficult to correct, and often induce gingivitis, it is better to remove them early, which is more beneficial to your health.
