The edge of the nail is swollen and painful. It turns out that this disease causes it

Swelling and pain at the edges of the nails are symptoms that many people experience in their lives, which seriously affects people's normal work and life. In fact, the swelling and pain at the edge of the nail is caused by paronychia. If not treated in time, the patient may even develop paronychia, which will seriously affect people's health.

1. Treatment of paronychia

1. Conservative treatment

For acute paronychia, antibiotics can be used in the early stages. However, if pustules have already appeared in the paronychia, the pustules should be punctured first, the pus inside should be squeezed out, and then antibiotics should be used for treatment. Chronic paronychia will take a longer time to treat, and it mainly involves using steroids combined with antifungal agents to kill the bacteria on the surface. You can also apply Vaseline on the surface of the nail groove to play a protective role.

2. Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine

Folk remedy 1: One gram each of green tea leaves, black sesame seeds, and salt, add a little bit of normal saline, mix all the materials and mash them. After disinfecting the affected area, you can apply this product to the affected area. Do not get the medicine wet during the application period to avoid affecting the medicinal properties. Change the medicine once a day and use it continuously for more than three days.

Recipe 2: 50 grams of fresh cactus. Clean the thorns on the surface of the cactus and wash it, then mash it into a paste. Add two grams of salt and seven drops of safflower oil. Continue to mix and blend. Prepare it before treatment and use it up on the same day to keep it fresh. Apply the medicine to the affected area and bandage it with gauze to maximize its medicinal value. Apply it once in the morning and evening.

2. How to prevent the occurrence of paronychia?

1. It is not advisable to cut your fingernails (toenails) too short. If you find some "small thorns" next to the nail groove, do not pull them out directly with your hands. Use nail clippers to remove them.

2. In daily life, you should be extra careful when there are splinters, foot thorns, etc. that can easily cause punctures and lead to paronychia.

3. If paronychia occurs, you can first disinfect it with iodine and then bandage it.

4. Appropriate supplementation of vitamin B and vitamin C can prevent toenails from becoming brittle.
