1. What is Seabuckthorn

Sea buckthorn (Hippohgae rhamnoides L), also known as vinegar willow, sour thorn, and Darib (Tibetan), is a deciduous shrub or small tree of the Elaeagnaceae family. The fruit is broadly oval in shape and comes in a variety of colors including red, orange-red, orange-yellow and yellow. The lush and brightly colored sea buckthorn berries hang in bunches on the branches, forming a beautiful landscape on the plateau in winter.

Sea buckthorn, known as the magical fruit of the plateau, originated in my country's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is one of the oldest plants on earth. It has experienced about 200 million years of vicissitudes, making it older than Ginkgo biloba (about 100 million years) and Alsophila spinulosa (about 180 million years). During the long period of crustal changes, after the severe tests of the ice age, interglacial period, loessization process and the Himalayan orogeny, its biological and ecological learning properties have evolved and developed towards the direction of drought resistance, cold resistance and barrenness resistance, becoming a rare plant with extremely strong ecological adaptability, rich and high content of active nutrients today. Therefore, sea buckthorn not only plays an important role in desert control and soil and water conservation, but also has become a new type of nutritional product in modern civilized society, and is widely used in flavored foods, nutritional foods, health products, medicines and cosmetics.

2. Nutritional value of seabuckthorn

Sea buckthorn contains protein, fat, crude fiber, carbohydrates, carotene, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C, niacin, etc. In addition, it also contains isorhamnetin, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, folic acid, malic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, zeaxanthin, palmitic acid, etc.

3. The efficacy and effects of seabuckthorn

Seabuckthorn is warm in nature and sour in taste. It has the effects of promoting blood circulation and dispersing blood stasis, resolving phlegm and widening the chest, promoting fluid production and quenching thirst, clearing away heat and stopping diarrhea. It is mainly used to treat injuries from falls, lung abscess, cough with sputum, dyspnea, indigestion, high fever and damage to the yin, enteritis and dysentery, stomach pain, amenorrhea and other diseases.

Total flavonoids of seabuckthorn can increase serum complement levels and enhance the function of macrophages, so it can not only supplement nutrition but also improve the body's disease resistance.
