What to do if you are poisoned by morphine? What are the first aid measures?

Because of its medicinal effects, morphine can cause poisoning to some people's systems. In the event of poisoning after using morphine, first aid measures must be taken to avoid secondary damage to the patient's body.

Morphine poisoning. After acute poisoning, the symptoms include coma, extreme pupil constriction, and severe hypoxia, where the pupil becomes extremely dilated, breathing is highly suppressed, blood pressure is reduced, and even shock occurs. Respiratory paralysis is the main cause of death.

First aid measures

1. Wash the stomach with 1:2000 potassium permanganate solution or induce vomiting.

2. Inject or feed 15-30g of sodium sulfate into the gastric tube as a laxative to promote the excretion of toxins.

3. If the injection is subcutaneous, the area above the injection site should be tied tightly with an elastic band or cloth as soon as possible, and cold compress should be applied to the injection site to delay the absorption of the poison. The ligation site should be relaxed for 1-2 minutes every 20-30 minutes, and continuous ligation is not allowed.

4. If breathing is difficult and there is hypoxia, artificial respiration should be continued and oxygen should be given. Timely nitrogen inhalation keeps the airway open.

5. Antidotes must be used under doctor's orders, such as nalorfen, naloxone intramuscular injection, etc.
