What are the common sports injuries and prevention methods?

When we exercise normally, injuries are inevitable if we are not careful. This is also an abnormal phenomenon. The severity and location of the injury are different. After the injury occurs, what we need to pay attention to is timely treatment to prevent the condition from becoming more serious. Different injury situations require different methods. Let us take a look at the common sports injuries and prevention methods.

1. Prevention of sports injuries

1. Learn the knowledge of preventing sports injuries and overcome the paralysis mentality.

2. Observe discipline, obey orders, do a good job in organization, and take necessary and complete measures, such as: checking sports venues and equipment, and wearing appropriate clothing and shoes.

3. Do warm-up exercises before any intense exercise or competition.

4. Choose activities according to your own situation and control the amount of exercise appropriately.

5. Master the essentials of exercise and strengthen protection and assistance.

6. Strengthen medical supervision and improve self-care awareness.

2. Common sports injuries and their treatment

1. Abrasion (damage caused by friction on the skin surface)

Treatment

(1) Minor abrasions: If the wound is clean, it can usually heal itself by applying mercurochrome or gentian violet.

(2) Severe abrasions: (Hemostasis must be performed first) Cold compress, limb elevation, pressure bandage, finger pressure to stop bleeding.

Cold compress: It can cause blood vessels to contract, reduce local congestion, lower tissue temperature and inhibit nerve sensation, thus having the effects of stopping bleeding, relieving pain and preventing swelling. It is often used for acute closed soft tissue injuries.

2. Nosebleed (bleeding due to external impact on the nose)

Treatment method: The injured person should be made to sit down, tilt his head back, breathe through the mouth temporarily, plug the nostrils with gauze, and apply a cold towel to the forehead and nose bridge, which can usually stop the bleeding.

3. Sprain (when the range of joint movement exceeds the normal limit, the ligaments, tendons and muscles attached to the joints are torn)

Treatment of severe sprain: Stop bleeding and relieve pain first. You can elevate the injured limb, rinse the injured area with cold water or apply a cold towel to cool it to constrict blood vessels, reduce bleeding and relieve pain. Do not rub the area randomly to prevent increased bleeding. Then put cotton pads on the injured area and apply pressure with a bandage. Use hot compresses 48 hours after the injury to promote the absorption of blood stasis.

4. Contusion (injury to subcutaneous tissue, muscle, ligament or other tissue due to a blow from a blunt instrument or direct external force, while the skin at the injured part is often intact or only slightly damaged). Treatment is the same as (3).

5. Concussion (the head is hit by external force or collides with a hard object, causing excessive vibration of brain nerve cells and fibers.) It can be divided into mild, moderate and severe concussion.

Treatment: For patients with mild concussion, they should rest in bed for one or two days and then participate in appropriate activities after a week. For moderate or severe concussion, the injured person must be kept absolutely quiet, lie on his back on a flat surface, apply cold compresses to the head, keep warm, and be sent to the hospital for treatment in time.

6. Dislocation (due to direct or indirect violence, the joint surface is out of its normal anatomical position.)

Treatment method: Be gentle and do not stretch or twist your body randomly. You can apply cold compress and bandage to keep the joint immobile, and then ask a doctor for correction.

7. Fracture (damage to bone integrity)

Treatment method: First, prevent shock, keep warm, stop bleeding and relieve pain, then bandage and fix, and send to hospital for treatment.

Through the above introduction, we now know the common sports injuries and prevention methods. This is also an unexpected situation that may occur during our normal exercise. We must prevent it, especially warming up before exercise, and taking all protective measures during exercise to minimize the injury.
