What abnormal stools may indicate colon cancer

The prominent symptoms of colon cancer patients in the early stage are blood in the stool and changes in bowel habits. In the late stage, concomitant symptoms caused by tumor infiltration may appear. Since the site of carcinoma in situ is low, the feces are hard and the tumor is easily rubbed by the feces, which can easily cause bleeding. What abnormal stool phenomena may indicate the occurrence of colon cancer?

1. Abnormal bowel habits, such as increased frequency of bowel movements, the presence of a small amount of mucus or blood in the stool, those that do not improve after treatment, or those that improve but relapse after treatment, should be diagnosed and treated for colon cancer in a timely manner.

2. If a person has a history of mucus stools and diarrhea but has mild symptoms and suddenly gains weight, or if the frequency and nature of bowel movements change from before, he or she should go to the hospital for a reexamination to make a clear diagnosis of colon cancer.

3. If constipation and diarrhea occur alternately without obvious cause and there is no improvement after short-term treatment, and no abnormalities are found in the stomach through barium fluoroscopy, you should go to the hospital for a rectal examination.

4. If defecation is difficult and the stool has pressure marks, is in the shape of grooves, flat strips, or thin strips, a rectal digital examination must be performed.
