How to treat conjunctival stones? It turns out to be like this

Conjunctival stones are a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people. However, in recent years, as young people have become more and more fond of heavy makeup, conjunctival stones have become younger and younger. So how to treat conjunctival stones? In fact, in daily life, we just need to wear less heavy makeup and do more hot compresses.

The treatment of eye stones is generally based on surgical removal. But if you don't pay attention, it may relapse. Therefore, the key to treating eye stones is to prevent eye inflammation.

First of all, those who wear contact lenses should consult a doctor in detail and check whether their eyes have inflammation. If you feel any discomfort, stop wearing it immediately. Secondly, women should try to avoid wearing heavy eye makeup. If you wear eye makeup, you should remove it carefully. It is recommended to apply a hot towel to your eyes or steam your eyes with water vapor after removing makeup. Again, the weather is dry in autumn and winter, the wind is strong, and tear secretion is abnormal. You can also apply a hot towel to your eyes after taking a shower at night to relieve the symptoms. Finally, do not rub your eyes when they feel itchy or have a foreign body sensation to prevent bacterial infection. When going out, be sure to protect your eyes and avoid dust, particles and other foreign objects entering your eyes; when you need to use eye drops, keep your hands clean.

How are eye stones formed?

Eye stones are medically called "conjunctival stones". Conjunctival stones are coagulation products of desquamated epithelial cells and degenerative cells accumulated in conjunctival epithelial depressions or deep tubular crypts. They have no or very little calcium deposits and are not true stones.

Conjunctival stones are more common in adults, mainly in patients with chronic eye diseases such as trachoma and chronic conjunctivitis. They often appear on the upper eyelid. There are hard, yellow-white, small dot-like protrusions on the conjunctiva, shaped like broken rice. Some are scattered in dots, and some are densely packed in groups.

At first, the stone is located deep and buried under the conjunctiva. Generally, there are no subjective symptoms. Later, it gradually emerges on the surface of the conjunctiva. Only when the nodule protrudes from the surface of the conjunctiva will there be a foreign body sensation, and it may even cause corneal abrasion. In this case, it can be removed with a knife tip or injection needle under surface anesthesia. If there are no irritation symptoms, no treatment is required.

If it is complicated by trachoma, chronic conjunctivitis and other diseases, the primary disease should be treated after provocation. However, most patients may continue to grow new stones after the stones are removed, and often require regular treatment to prevent corneal abrasion. According to traditional Chinese medicine, intraocular stones are caused by wind evil invading the spleen meridian, blocking the eyelids, and turning into heat over time, burning body fluids and causing stagnation in the eyelids. They can be treated with agents that clear the heart and spleen and heat, such as Neishu Huanglian Decoction with modifications.
