What are the causes of varicose nasal septum ulcer

The occurrence of varicose ulcers of the nasal septum can cause great damage to the skin and mucous membranes of the nose. Generally, the cause of this disease is related to the patient's living environment and living habits. When the disease occurs, the patient will feel obvious pain and discomfort.

Nasal septum ulcer is a chronic inflammatory lesion of the nasal septum mucosa, submucosa, or even perichondrium caused by specific or nonspecific harmful factors. Both adults and children can be affected. Treatment of nasal septum ulcers should eliminate the cause. Dry scabs can be removed locally, 10% silver nitrate can be applied on the surface, and then anti-inflammatory ointment can be applied. Vitamin C, vitamin B2, etc. can be taken throughout the body. If there is a nasal septum deformity, it should be corrected.

Causes

1. Dry environment, industrial dust, chemical gases, etc. can cause damage to the nasal septum mucosa.

2. Chronic vestibulitis, nasal septum deformity, and dry nose cause patients to develop the bad habit of picking their noses with their fingers, damaging the nasal septum mucosa.

3. Special infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, lupus, leprosy, and syphilis invade the nasal cavity and may cause nasal septum ulcers.

4. Early lesions of malignant granuloma of the nose.

Clinical manifestations

Nasal examination can usually reveal the site of ulcers, which are mostly located in the front part of the nasal septum. Patients often feel dryness and discomfort in the nose, and sometimes have blood in their mucus or blood dripping from their nostrils. There are often dry scabs attached to the surface of the ulcer, and the wound surface can be seen after the dry scabs are removed. If it is a special infection or malignant granuloma, the ulcer will have different shapes, a larger area, a deeper wound surface, and hyperplastic thickening at the edges. There may be various manifestations such as pus, bleeding spots, etc. If the decay is deep, it may lead to nasal septum perforation.
