Is uremia hereditary? Daily prevention is also important

Uremia is a very serious kidney disease. Generally, people with uremia will not survive long unless they undergo a kidney transplant. However, uremia is generally not hereditary, so we must do a good job of prevention. Once discovered, we must actively seek treatment and pay attention to rest.

1. Is uremia hereditary?

Don't worry, uremia is not hereditary.

There are many types of kidney disease. Generally, kidney disease has little inheritance, but there is also a group of kidney diseases caused by gene mutations and inherited from offspring according to Mendel's law, including hereditary renal cystic diseases, such as autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, hereditary glomerular diseases, such as hereditary nephritis, thin basement membrane nephropathy and Fabry disease; hereditary tubular diseases, such as familial vitamin D-resistant rickets, and hereditary metabolic kidney diseases, such as cystine nephropathy. Generally, this type of condition accounts for a very small proportion of kidney disease!

2. Prevention of uremia

1. Active treatment

Although uremia is a fatal disease, it is not incurable. For cases without inducing factors and when renal function is irreversible, dialysis treatment can be considered. Dialysis therapies include oral, peritoneal, and hemodialysis (artificial kidney). Oral dialysis treatment is only suitable for patients with mild uremia. In recent years, due to the widespread application of dialysis therapy, many patients with advanced uremia have survived for more than 5 years and maintained a certain level of labor force. Therefore, dialysis therapy is one of the effective methods for treating advanced uremia.

2. Get enough rest

Patients with uremia should ensure adequate rest and good nutrition, and avoid engaging in activities beyond their capacity.

3. Avoid chemicals that damage the kidneys

Avoid products and environments that contain cadmium, chloroform, ethylene glycol, and tetrachloroethylene, which are commonly found in pesticides, automobile exhaust, paints, buildings, and household cleaners.

4. Limit foods high in thionine

Some chemicals in common household products have been found to be associated with acute and chronic kidney disease. As long as you read the product instructions carefully and take more precautions, you can avoid these harmful substances.

Cadmium: This rare metal is used in the production of pesticides, rubber tires, plastics, paints and other products. Due to its wide range of industrial uses, cadmium has been found in some foods and water on a large scale. The following points should be noted:

Limit your intake of foods high in cadmium, such as foods made from animal liver and kidneys, flatfish, clams, scallops, oysters, and vegetables grown in sewage sludge.

Ensure that paints, dyes and ceramics used for spraying and craft applications do not contain cadmium.
