How to sober up red wine

How to sober up red wine

Anyone who knows how to drink red wine knows that it needs to be decanted before drinking, but of course there are certain steps and techniques to decanting. Now we have decanters, so it is relatively convenient and simpler, especially for aged red wine, which needs special care to be taken to decant.

1. Remove the bottle seal at the neck of the bottle first. Don't just remove the seal at the mouth of the bottle, remove the entire seal. Once you have done this, you can pour the wine from the bottle into the decanter.

2. Keep pouring slow. The purpose of decanting aged wine is to remove the sediment in the wine. If it is poured too quickly, the sediment may not be visible.

3. Observe the precipitation carefully. With the help of candlelight or other bright light sources, pay attention to the wine at the shoulder of the bottle to make sure that there is any precipitated wine left at the shoulder of the bottle. This operation process is very interesting.

4. Be careful to stop pouring wine. Stop pouring when you see sediment in the wine at the shoulder of the bottle and place the bottle upright until the sediment settles to the bottom of the bottle. When the sediment has completely settled at the bottom of the bottle, start pouring again.

Older wines accumulate a lot of sediment over time. The sediment in the wine sometimes makes people mistakenly think that the wine has gone bad or gives people a bad tasting experience. Therefore, it is necessary to decant the wine to remove the sediment and ensure that the wine in the glass is flawless.
