How to store red wine properly

People who love red wine know that the preservation of red wine requires a lot of attention, especially for those who own high-end private residences. It would be ideal to have a wine cellar to store red wine. Of course, not everyone has the conditions to store red wine in this way.

Best Solution: Wine Cellar

For those who own high-end private residences, a wine cellar is an ideal choice. A good wine cellar can provide the most ideal preservation environment for the aging of wine. To build a private wine cellar, you need to first find an ideal location. You can choose the basement of a garage, food storage room or even a tool room. In Europe, the cost of designing and decorating an underground wine cellar that can store about 2,000 bottles of wine ranges from RMB 100,000 to RMB 250,000.

Before you decide to build a wine cellar or buy a wine cabinet, you should ask yourself a few basic questions: How many bottles of wine do you have, do you have enough space, is the purpose of storage to age the wine, or to keep the wine at drinking temperature so that it can be enjoyed at any time...

The ideal storage environment for wine should meet the following five conditions, which are also the conditions that an ideal wine cellar should meet:

1. Temperature is undoubtedly the most important condition. To prevent the wine from maturing too quickly or too slowly, the temperature should be kept around 12°C.

2. Light is also an important factor in the preservation of wine. Ultraviolet rays in sunlight can penetrate glass bottles and oxidize the wine, but this is not a problem in underground wine cellars.

3. Another important condition is smell. Wine corks can easily absorb various odors from the surrounding area, so do not store wine together with food or daily necessities.

4. It is best to build a ventilation system to allow the wine cellar to be better ventilated. Due to different models, the price ranges from thousands to tens of thousands of RMB.

5. Humidity is also very important for the quality and maturation of wine. The humidity should be controlled between 70-80%. If it is too low, the cork will dry out, and if it is too high, the wine label will get damp.
