What can I eat if I have kidney stones? Dietary taboos for kidney stones

Speaking of kidney stones, I believe many people know about it, and even most people have been diagnosed with kidney stones. However, most people are not very clear about what foods they can eat after having kidney stones. In fact, you should often eat the following four kinds of food after having kidney stones. Let’s take a closer look below!

1. Foods that patients with kidney stones should eat

1. Reasonable calcium supplementation: especially dietary calcium supplementation. Kidney stone patients often "change color when talking about calcium" and mistakenly believe that calcium is the culprit of kidney stones. In fact, patients with kidney stones also need calcium supplements.

2. Eat more black fungus: Black fungus is rich in various minerals and trace elements, which can have a strong effect on various stones. It is a home treatment for kidney stones.

3. Eat foods rich in vitamin A: Foods containing vitamin A can maintain the health of the urethral lining and also help prevent the recurrence of stones. These foods include: carrots, broccoli, cantaloupe, pumpkin, and beef liver. However, high doses of vitamin A are toxic, so it is best to consult a doctor before taking it.

4. Drink more boiled water: Drinking more water can dilute the urine, the concentration of calcium ions and oxalate will be reduced, and calcium oxalate stones will not form. Studies have shown that increasing urine volume by 50% can reduce the incidence of kidney stones by 86%.

2. Dietary taboos for patients with kidney stones

1. Avoid foods that can cause hair loss and seafood. Avoid eating roosters, cows, sheep, dogs, pig's feet, donkeys, turtles, ginseng, deer antlers, tortoise glue, donkey-hide gelatin, longan, lychee, bamboo shoots, onions, mushrooms (including mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, popcorn mushrooms, etc., mushroom foods will cause hair loss), betel nuts and all fish, freshwater and marine products, especially shrimp, crab and other seafood.

2. Do not eat foods rich in oxalate. About 60% of stones are calcium oxalate stones. Therefore, you should limit your intake of foods rich in oxalate, including beans, beets, celery, chocolate, grapes, green peppers, cilantro, spinach, strawberries, and vegetables from the cabbage family. Also avoid alcohol, caffeine, tea, chocolate, dried figs, lamb, nuts, green peppers, black tea, poppy seeds, etc.

3. Be careful when drinking milk before going to bed. Drinking a glass of milk before bed can help people with poor sleep, but after falling asleep, the amount of urine decreases and the various tangible substances in the urine increase. 2 to 3 hours after drinking milk is the peak time for calcium excretion through the kidneys. The amount of calcium excreted through the kidneys suddenly increases in a short period of time, which can easily form stones. Therefore, patients with kidney stones should not drink high-calcium milk before going to bed.

4. Avoid taking any Chinese medicine that is tonic, heat-inducing or has heat-inducing effects. After recovery, you should abstain from the above products for three months in order to consolidate the effect. This is a facial treatment. Pay attention to the yin and yang of the whole body, and avoid eating foods that are not conducive to prostate recovery. The meats that can be eaten include lean meat, pig heart, pig kidney, pig lung, pig tongue, pig stomach, duck meat, chicken or hen chicken, eggs, quail, pigeon, snake meat, cat meat, milk, etc.

5. Avoid smoking and frying or grilling food. People with kidney stones should avoid smoking (if you can't quit, try to smoke less), drinking, eating spicy food (such as chili peppers, ginger, and garlic are absolutely forbidden), and fried or grilled food.

6. Do not take cod liver oil in excess. Cod liver oil is rich in vitamin D, which can promote the absorption of calcium and phosphorus by the intestinal membrane. A sudden increase in the excretion of calcium and phosphorus in the urine will inevitably produce precipitation and easily form stones.

7. Eat less foods with high oxalate content and less soy products: Foods high in oxalate include tomatoes, spinach, strawberries, beets, chocolate, etc. Excessive oxalate intake is also one of the main causes of kidney stones. ; Soy foods are high in oxalate and phosphate, which can combine with calcium in the kidneys to form stones.
