Is 30 to 40 cm esophageal cancer serious?

Esophageal cancer is 30 to 40 cm away from the front teeth. If it is in the early stage, it is usually not serious, but if it is in the late stage, it is more serious.

Esophageal cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the esophageal epithelium. According to the distance from the incisors, it can be divided into four parts: about 15-20cm from the incisors, from the throat to the chest entrance, called the cervical esophagus; about 20-25cm from the incisors, from the chest entrance to the level of the apsidal arch, called the upper chest; about 25-30cm from the incisors, from the apsidal arch to the lower pulmonary vein, it is called the middle chest; 30-40cm from the incisors, generally from the level of the pulmonary vein to the stomach entrance, called the lower chest.

In the early stage of subthoracic esophageal cancer, most tumor lesions are limited to the mucosal surface, with no obvious local masses, but there may be changes such as congestion and erosion. Surgical treatment can completely remove the tumor lesions and may even completely cure it. It is generally not serious. In the late stage of subthoracic esophageal cancer, metastasis to the clavicular lymph nodes, abdominal aorta and celiac plexus lymph nodes may occur, and it is usually difficult to cure. Even with comprehensive treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, it can only improve the quality of life and prolong survival time, so it is more serious.
