What causes dizziness while running?

Modern people are paying more and more attention to their physical health, and running is a low-carbon and cost-saving sport. However, many people who do not exercise much will feel dizzy when running, especially some middle-aged people. What caused that willingness?

1. Postural hypotension

Dizziness after running is common among runners. In medicine, it is called orthostatic hypotension, which is caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain due to changes in body position.

After strenuous running, your blood vessels will dilate extra, and dizziness may occur. Therefore, we will experience dizziness caused by orthostatic hypotension after finishing running training. For most people, this dizziness will disappear quickly after the body adapts and adjusts.

2. Physical fatigue

If you run too soon after an illness, exercise when you are tired, or run or compete without enough sleep, it will cause a series of symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, and headache after running. If your breathing rhythm is not good during training, such as holding your breath incorrectly while running, which causes insufficient oxygen supply to the body, you may also experience symptoms of dizziness after running.

3. Low blood sugar and insufficient calories

When symptoms such as dizziness and lightheadedness occur after a period of time at the beginning of running or after running, especially when dizziness occurs when the outside temperature is too high or too cold. The cause of this dizziness is most likely related to insufficient calories in the body and low blood sugar levels. This is why it is easy to experience dizziness, weakness, cold sweats, etc. if you participate in long-term running exercises when you are hungry.

4. Stop suddenly after running

It is normal to feel dizzy when you get off the treadmill after running. Because after getting on the treadmill, the body is running forward, but the surrounding reference objects seen by the eyes are relatively still. After getting off the treadmill, the reference object is still relatively still, the legs have stopped, and the motor nerves and vision are temporarily asynchronous, so they need to be readjusted and corrected. If you feel dizzy after running on the treadmill, this dizziness will disappear on its own after our body has recovered for a few minutes.
