What are the steps of root canal treatment?

Some friends may not know much about root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is actually to clear out some necrotic substances or garbage in the root canal and then disinfect it. Root canal surgery is very helpful for some oral diseases, so you may want to take a look.

Steps of root canal treatment:

1. Preoperative examination: Generally, the patient should be examined before treatment, including the selection of indications, the presence or absence of contraindications, the patient's willingness for treatment, and the specific condition of the teeth;

2. Preparation of the medullary cavity: Before opening the medullary cavity, the rotten substances must be removed. Then, another new bur (either a split drill or a diamond bur can be used, but a diamond bur has less vibration and is more stable) is used to enter the medullary cavity. After penetrating the medullary cavity, a high-speed ball drill is used to remove the top. The top must be completely removed so that the entire medullary chamber bottom can be seen clearly. Then, a split drill or a diamond bur is used to trim the medullary wall.

3. Working length measurement: This step actually includes three aspects: supracronal segment preparation, root canal dredging and working length measurement. We generally use three methods for root canal preparation: standard method, step-back method, and coronal penetration method;

4. Root canal preparation: The method of root canal preparation is nothing more than using one of the three methods mentioned above (standard method, gradual retreat method, crown-to-depth method) or a combination of methods, and then you can officially start root canal treatment;

5. Root canal treatment: Due to the particularity of root canal treatment, general root canal treatment requires 2-4 treatments, and severe cases may require additional time. After the treatment is completed, the crown can be installed.
