Dandelion is a very familiar wild grass, and it is also a traditional medicinal material with high nutritional value. The origin of the name of dandelion is quite legendary, with a story circulating. Dandelion tastes bitter and has a cool nature, but it has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and dispersing. It can also treat the excretory system problems that many people have, as well as urinary tract infections and throat pain. Dandelion, a wild grass that everyone is familiar with, is actually a traditional medicinal herb with high medicinal value. The "Newly Revised Materia Medica" of the Tang Dynasty records that it "is used to treat breast abscesses in women" (i.e. mastitis). Dandelion, also known as dandelion, dandelion, and milkweed, can be used as medicine or as a vegetable. It grows in most parts of the country. Speaking of the origin of the name of dandelion, there is a more legendary story: In ancient Luoyang City, there was a rich lady named Gongying. She was not only beautiful, but also proficient in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and was virtuous and lovely. But before getting married, she unfortunately suffered from mastitis, which caused her breasts to become red, swollen, hot and painful, and she was in great pain. The family found a doctor to treat her, but the doctor had evil thoughts when he saw Gongying's beauty. Gongying was so angry that he slapped the doctor. This person held a grudge and spread rumors everywhere, saying that Gongying was immoral and had contracted this disease before she got married. Gongying was speechless and in a fit of rage he committed suicide by jumping into the river. Fortunately, he was not destined to die, as he was rescued by a fisherman named Pu, who arranged for his daughter Pu Ying to take care of him. Pu Ying picked a kind of herb, washed and mashed it, and applied it on Gongying's breasts. After several times, the breast abscess was miraculously cured. In order to express her gratitude to the old man Pu and his daughter for saving her life, Miss Gongying named this herb dandelion. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that dandelion tastes bitter and sweet and is cold in nature. Modern research has confirmed that it has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, eliminating carbuncles and dispersing nodules, and promoting diuresis and relieving stranguria. It is a commonly used Chinese medicine for treating breast carbuncle, intestinal carbuncle, lung carbuncle, furuncle, mumps, red and swollen eyes, sore throat, urinary tract infection and many other diseases.
