Are seedless lemons genetically modified?

With the increase in fruit varieties, the fruits on the market are becoming more and more diverse. In order to make it easier to eat fruits, there are many seedless fruits, such as seedless lemons, seedless grapes, etc., which have a sweet taste and save the trouble of spitting out seeds. They are also more suitable for children to eat, without worrying about being stuck by seeds. However, many people think that normal fruits have seeds, and if there are no seeds, they are worried that they are genetically modified. Is that right?

Lemons with seeds are better. Because lemon seeds have many benefits, such as:

1. Lemon seeds contain limonin and multiple vitamins. The limonin can inhibit diseases such as liver cancer, intestinal cancer, oral cancer and skin cancer induced by chemical substances. It also has a very good therapeutic effect on diseases such as hepatitis, ulcers and syphilis.

2. Lemon seeds also contain many nutrients that help beautify your skin, especially the seeds of green lemons, which can be dried and ground into powder for consumption. Some friends also soak lemon seeds in white wine for a period of time, then let the alcohol evaporate, and use the remaining liquid as eye cream, which is excellent for moisturizing and removing fine lines at the corners of the eyes.

3. Lemon seeds can also be squeezed into lemon seed oil, which contains 2.2 mg/mL of limonin analogues, 6.95 mg/mL of flavonoids, 161 μg/mg of VE, and 1.34% of phospholipids. The mass ratio of saturated fatty acids (SFA), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in lemon seed oil is 0.8:1:1.3, and the mass ratio of linoleic acid and linolenic acid is 3.9:1. It is a nutrient-rich vegetable oil.

In order to explore the possibility of developing special oils with lemon seeds as raw materials, the characteristic active ingredients, fatty acid composition, common physical and chemical indexes and acute toxicity tests of squeezed lemon seed oil were analyzed. The results showed that lemon seed oil is rich in multiple active ingredients and has an ideal fatty acid ratio. It is a nutritious source of vegetable oil. The results of the acute toxicity test preliminarily determined its safety.
