What to do if the capillaries in the eyes are broken? It turns out that this is the best way to achieve the best result

The eyes are not only the windows to the human soul, but also the most vulnerable organ in the human body. Therefore, once various problems occur in the eyes, people will suffer a lot. Among them, the most confusing thing is the rupture of eye capillaries. Don't panic when your eye capillaries rupture and bleed. Alternating hot and cold compresses can effectively stop the bleeding.

There are many factors that cause capillary rupture in the eyes, the main ones are the following four: systemic vascular and blood diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes and other retinopathy; inflammatory diseases or immune complexes invading the blood vessel walls, such as retinal periphlebitis, optic disc vasculitis, etc. causing fundus hemorrhage; mechanical blockage, such as thrombosis; multiple different causes leading to the same pathological damage, such as retinal hemorrhage, exudation, microaneurysm, neovascularization, etc.

"Of course, being overworked and having high intracranial pressure can also cause capillaries in the eyes to rupture." Dr. Wang said that in his ophthalmology clinic, he often encounters patients with red eyes but no pain or itching. However, after examination, he generally does not find any of the above four conditions. Most of them are bleeding from the micro-vessels under the conjunctiva. "It is not a serious disease and will not cause major damage to the eyes and vision."

So, why do the tiny blood vessels under the conjunctiva bleed?

"Subconjunctival hemorrhage is mainly caused by the rupture of tiny blood vessels under the conjunctiva. Due to the pressure of the conjunctiva and the coagulation reaction of the body, the amount of bleeding is usually not much, but the color is bright red, which looks scary, but patients often do not feel abnormal. Only a few people will have a foreign body sensation of swelling and discomfort when the amount of bleeding is large and the entire white of the eyeball is covered by blood clots. A few people will feel stinging in the eyes before the conjunctival capillaries rupture and bleed." Dr. Wang further introduced that there are generally two reasons for eye capillary bleeding: one is vascular lesions caused by primary diseases such as diabetes and hypertension; the other reason is excessive work intensity, irregular life, fatigue and excessive use of the eyes. "The blood vessels in the eyes are very thin and particularly fragile. Once the work intensity and pressure make the eyes feel nervous, vasospasm is prone to occur. In addition, the blood flow on the retina contracts improperly, and the blood vessels are prone to rupture."

What should I do if my capillaries are broken? Is it useful to put a towel directly on the eyes?

"If it is a cold compress, it will be useful - heat expands and cold contracts! After 24 hours of cold compress to stop the bleeding, you can apply hot compress to allow the blood to be absorbed as soon as possible through the blood circulation. If the symptoms are not relieved after continuous cold compress, you should seek medical attention in time." Wang Kehua said.
