How to remove scale from a stainless steel kettle

How to remove scale from a stainless steel kettle

Generally speaking, in family life now, many people use stainless steel kettles, because it is convenient to boil water and saves time. However, drinking from these stainless steel kettles for a long time may cause many adverse effects and harm to our health. So let us introduce to you some methods and techniques to quickly remove scale from stainless steel kettles.

1. Descaling with vinegar

The more common method of descaling stainless steel kettles is to use the vinegar commonly used in daily households. The main principle utilized is that the acetic acid in vinegar reacts with calcium carbonate, the main component of scale, to produce minerals and carbon dioxide gas. The specific method is to pour 10% white vinegar into the kettle, then fill it with water, boil it and let it sit for about an hour, then brush it. Aged vinegar can also be used, but the effect of aged vinegar is not as good as white vinegar. Generally, you can try it repeatedly several times to completely remove the scale on the inner wall of the kettle.

2. Descaling with sweet potatoes

This method of removing scale with sweet potatoes can solve the problem once and for all. It is generally more suitable for newly purchased stainless steel kettles. Put more than half a kettle of sweet potatoes in the new kettle, fill it with water, cook the sweet potatoes, and then boil water again in the future, there will be no scale accumulation. But be careful not to scrub the inner wall of the kettle after boiling sweet potatoes, otherwise the descaling effect will be lost. For old kettles that are full of scale, after boiling them once or twice using the above method, not only will the original scale gradually fall off, but it will also prevent scale from accumulating again.

3. Descaling with dilute hydrochloric acid

If the scale on the inner wall of the stainless steel kettle is already quite thick, it is difficult to solve it with general methods. In this case, you can pour some dilute hydrochloric acid into the stainless steel kettle, shake it evenly, soak the scale, quickly remove the scale, and finally clean it. It should be noted that the lid should not be closed to prevent it from exploding. It should be noted that when cleaning the scale on the electric kettle, the kettle or power base must not be immersed in water or wet to prevent leakage.

After you know and understand these methods and techniques, you should now know how to use them correctly to remove the scale in the kettle. Healthy drinking water is more beneficial to our health, so for the correct use of the kettle, everyone should also pay attention to it and clean it regularly.
