My butt itches in the middle of the night

When you find your butt itchy in the middle of the night, you will feel very uncomfortable, because at night you will feel that the itching is more severe than before. If you don't treat it in time, the local symptoms may spread to systemic itching, which is more serious. So don't use your hands to scratch when you feel itchy.

Anal pruritus is a common local pruritus. The anus sometimes feels slightly itchy. If the itching is severe and does not heal for a long time, it becomes pruritus. It is a common localized neurological dysfunctional skin disease, which is generally limited to the area around the anus. Some may spread to the perineum, vulva or behind the scrotum. Anal pruritus is more common in middle-aged people.

Some are local symptoms of systemic pruritus, which are more common in the elderly. Pruritus limited to the anus is often related to anal and rectal diseases or is secondary to anorectal diseases. Local inflammation and congestion increase skin circulation and raise temperature. The buttocks are a difficult area for heat dissipation, which leads to increased sweat secretion, moisture infiltration, and discomfort and itching.

If you scratch it for a long time and it is not healed, it will cause the skin to become rough and thickened, anal fissures to form, and even infection, causing redness, swelling and pain. The lesions can also spread to the perineum, scrotum, vulva, and even the skin of the buttocks, which is even more unbearable. Therefore, once you suffer from anal itching, do not scratch it with your hands, as this will cause secondary infection of the local skin.

According to the cause, it can be divided into primary pruritus and secondary pruritus.

Primary pruritus: not accompanied by primary skin lesions, with itching as the main symptom.

Secondary pruritus: occurs from primary diseases and various skin diseases, accompanied by obvious specific skin damage and primary lesions. Itching is often a symptom of primary lesions. Anal itching caused by anal fistula, anal eczema, warts, neurodermatitis, anorectal tumors, pinworms, etc. belongs to this category.
