During storage, the bundles should be opened and checked regularly, and rotten ones should be removed in time. However, when the onions are frozen in cold weather, do not move the bundled onions, otherwise they will rot easily. Be sure to handle it with care when eating and bring it indoors to thaw slowly. 2. When drying green onions, be sure to keep the green leaves, so as to maintain its vitality. Otherwise, once the leaves are broken, the green onions will gradually become soft or even rot, making them difficult to preserve. Before storing, the onion leaves must be dried in the sun to wilt. It usually takes three or four days to dry them. Once the leaves are wilted, you can braid them and place them with the roots facing down in a dark place on the balcony. Remember not to get the green onions wet or they will rot easily. But it is not good to be too dry either, as the green onions will become shriveled and hollow. 3. If you live on the first floor and have a small yard, it will be more convenient to store green onions. You can spread 3 to 4 centimeters of sand on the flat ground in the leeward place, and then lay the dried and bundled scallion roots face down on the sand, with a width of 1 to 1.5 meters. After stacking, build up 15 cm high sandy soil around the roots of the green onions. Finally, cover it with straw mats or plastic film to prevent rain. Scallions can also help reduce the accumulation of bad cholesterol.
