Arterial blood gas analysis is a common examination method, through which a reasonable judgment can be made as to whether the patient is suffering from hypoxia. Generally speaking, if a person has symptoms of cardiogenic shock or acute right-sided heart failure, an arterial blood gas analysis may be necessary. In addition, some people with hepatopulmonary syndrome, or some elderly people in the terminal stage of pneumonia, also need to undergo such examinations. Blood gas analysis refers to the technical process of analyzing different types of gases and acidic and alkaline substances in various gases and liquids. The specimen can come from blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid and various mixed gases, but blood is the most commonly used in clinical practice. Blood specimens include arterial blood, venous blood and mixed venous blood, among which arterial blood gas analysis is the most commonly used. Clinical application value: In the past, due to backward medical conditions, the diagnosis of hypoxia could only be estimated based on clinical symptoms, and acid-base imbalance was only judged based on symptoms and CO2CP (carbon dioxide binding capacity). Since clinical symptoms and CO2CP are affected by many factors and have poor reliability, arterial blood gas analysis is a reliable indicator for determining whether the body has acid-base imbalance and hypoxia and the degree of hypoxia. At present, arterial blood gas analysis has become an indispensable test item in the diagnosis and treatment of hypoxemia and acid-base imbalance in various clinical departments. In the treatment of critical illness, acid-base imbalance is the most common clinical complication after hypoxemia. Timely diagnosis and correction of acid-base imbalance is of great significance for the treatment of critical illness. Arterial blood gas analysis is also the only reliable indicator for judging and measuring the acid-base balance of the human body. Arterial blood gas analysis can be used to examine emphysema and metabolic alkali poisoning in the elderly. Arterial blood gas analysis can also be considered for some elderly people who suffer from acute respiratory distress syndrome or respiratory failure. In addition, pregnant women who experience a series of symptoms after getting seriously ill may consider undergoing arterial blood gas analysis. |
