What are the hazards of benzene to human body

When we were in school, we had a subject called chemistry, in which we learned a lot of knowledge. We learned some knowledge about metals and some other knowledge. We also encounter some things we learned from books in our lives, which are of great help to our lives. Today we learn about a liquid that we have also learned in textbooks, that is benzene. Now let’s take a look at the hazards of benzene to the human body?

1. Long-term inhalation of benzene can lead to aplastic anemia. Long-term inhalation of benzene can cause leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. In severe cases, it can cause bone marrow hematopoietic dysfunction and lead to aplastic anemia. If the hematopoietic function is completely destroyed, fatal agranulocytosis may occur and may cause leukemia.

2. Women who inhale benzene for a long time will suffer from many diseases. Long-term inhalation of benzene by women of childbearing age can cause menstrual abnormalities, mainly manifested as excessive or disordered menstruation. When pregnant women are exposed to toluene, xylene and benzene mixtures, the incidence of pregnancy complications such as pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, vomiting during pregnancy and anemia during pregnancy increases significantly, and may even lead to miscarriage.

3. Benzene can cause congenital defects in the fetus. Women who inhale large amounts of toluene throughout pregnancy are more likely to give birth to babies with defects such as microcephaly, central nervous system dysfunction, and growth retardation. Toluene can also enter the fetus through the placenta, causing decreased birth weight and delayed ossification.

4. Benzene can cause damage to the skin and upper respiratory tract. Frequent contact with benzene can cause the skin to become dry and flaky due to degreasing, and some people may develop allergic eczema. Laryngeal edema, bronchitis and thrombocytopenia are also related to excessive benzene pollution.

Now we know the harm of benzene to the human body. In fact, we have learned this knowledge about benzene from textbooks. Because of its harmfulness, we can emphasize it here. We can pay attention to the main uses of benzene and where it is needed, and then try to have less contact with these things to avoid causing particularly serious effects on our bodies.
