The best treatment for hemifacial spasm

The word spasm may be a little unfamiliar to many people. Now many people realize the importance of rehabilitation, which can effectively improve some disorders of physical function. Physical therapy is very effective in relieving spasticity, but it is a very lengthy process. We need everyone's active cooperation to achieve better results. Many methods are effective, but they can be maximized when combined with treatment.

Cluster stabbing

(I) Acupoint selection Main acupoint: Ashi point. Acupoints: Sibai, Yuyao, Zanzhu, Yingxiang, Jiache.

Ashi point location: the starting point of facial spasm.

(II) Treatment method: Main acupoints must be selected each time, using cluster needling method. The method is to take 15 to 30 No. 30 to 32 filiform needles (0.5 to 1.5 inches long). Insert the needle shallowly into the Ashi point with dense needle arrangement or scattered needle insertion (with intervals of 0.5 to 1 cm wide). The skin at the needle tip should bulge out to form a small hillock, and the needle body should be suspended without falling. For acupoint combination, select 2 to 3 points near the hemifacial spasm, and shallow acupuncture is also recommended. Leave the needle in for 20 to 30 minutes, once a day, and 10 times as a course of treatment. During acupuncture treatment, patients may feel slight pain. Some patients may feel slight warmth at the acupuncture site or their skin may become red and congested. These are all normal phenomena.

At present, symptomatic treatment is generally used, including drugs, radiofrequency temperature-controlled thermocoagulation therapy, surgical therapy and other treatment methods.

Drug treatment:

Except for drugs such as phenytoin sodium or carbamazepine, which may be effective for some mild patients, general central nervous system depressants, inhibitors and hormones have no significant therapeutic effect. In the past, procaine and anhydrous alcohol were often used...

Surgical treatment:

1. Facial nerve trunk compression and branch amputation: Under local anesthesia, make an incision below the stylomastoid foramen, find the main trunk of the nerve, and use vascular clamps to compress the nerve trunk. The compression force should be properly controlled, and it will cause short-term...

Other treatments:

Radiofrequency temperature-controlled thermocoagulation therapy: Use a radiofrequency cannula needle to pierce the stylomastoid foramen according to the above method, and use the principle of electric couple to generate heat energy between nerve fibers through radio waves. The temperature is 65℃~70℃, and the facial nerves are...

Prognosis:

Currently, symptomatic treatment is generally used, but the results are less than ideal.
