Children's sleep time standard

Children's sleep time standard

Everyone's sleep time is different. There is a certain standard for children's sleep time. Children of different age groups sleep for different times. Newborns sleep about 20 hours. As they grow older, the sleep time gradually decreases. Primary school students sleep about ten hours. Let us take a closer look at the relevant knowledge about children's sleep time standards.

Children's sleep refers to children's sleep time and sleep quality. Sleep is very important for human survival. People can survive for several weeks without food. But if one cannot sleep for seven days, his life will be in danger.

Sleep will take up one-third of a person's life, so the quality of sleep directly affects a person's health and longevity, which is especially important for adolescents. Only good sleep can make people energetic, vigorous and efficient in learning. Modern science shows that sleep has a positive effect on memory. It can further strengthen daytime memory, organize information, and even provide new inspiration for major scientific research.

The amount of sleep you need varies with age. Newborns under one month old are in a sleeping or semi-sleeping state all the time except for feeding; children of four months old need 16 to 18 hours of sleep a day; children between 8 months and 1 year old need 15 to 16 hours of sleep a day; school-age children need 10 hours of sleep a day; teenagers need 9 hours of sleep a day, and after the age of 20, 8 hours of sleep a day is enough. Of course, it should be pointed out here that there are great individual differences in sleep time. Some people need 10 hours, while others only need 5 hours a day. Edison, the famous American inventor, slept only 4 to 5 hours a day, but he was still full of energy. He made more than 2,000 inventions for mankind in his lifetime. However, school-age teenagers still need to ensure 8 to 10 hours of sleep so that they can devote themselves to the heavy learning tasks of each day with full spirit and sufficient physical strength.
