How to care for fixed dentures

In our lives, many people always wear dentures to alleviate dental problems after they have dental problems. Among them, fixed dentures are the most common type of tooth treatment method. However, many people always think that dentures have no vitality and they just ignore them after they are inserted. This will seriously affect the health of the oral cavity. Sometimes, not paying attention to hygiene will lead to bacterial growth. Therefore, you must take good care of your dentures. Let’s learn about the care methods of fixed dentures below.

How to care for fixed dentures

After installing dentures, you should pay attention to care and brush your teeth after meals and before going to bed to remove accumulated food debris and keep your mouth clean. Removable dentures can be removed and scrubbed with a soft-bristled brush dipped in toothpaste. Before going to bed, temporarily unused dentures should be soaked in a baking soda solution or the rice washing water of the same day. Do not soak or wash them in hot water.

Dentures are made of polymer materials. Be careful to hold them firmly when brushing your teeth and taking them off to prevent them from falling to the ground and breaking. After installing a full denture, if the gums are still tender after multiple repairs, it may be that the gums are inflamed. In addition to taking anti-inflammatory drugs, you can also peel and slice purple garlic, bite it and hold it in your mouth with your gums, three times a day. This method has a good anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effect.

Gum pain may also be caused by a lack of vitamins, especially vitamin C. Severe vitamin C deficiency can cause scurvy, bleeding gums, and atrophy or inflammation of tissues in the denture area. Vitamin C deficiency weakens the oral tissue's ability to regulate and adapt to dentures, causing damage to soft tissues.

The solution is to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamin C and other nutrients. In order to avoid accidental swallowing of dentures, people with mental illness or who cannot take care of themselves should have fixed dentures as much as possible. Even if fixed dentures are installed, when the patient is unconscious or in danger of convulsions, care should be taken to prevent the dentures from loosening after long-term use or coming loose under strong force, which may cause the dentures to be accidentally inhaled into the lungs and cause suffocation.

The above is an introduction to the care methods for fixed dentures. After understanding it, we know that fixed dentures also need to pay attention to oral hygiene, and there may be some discomfort when wearing dentures for the first time. There must be an adaptation process, and once there is gum pain, you can take some vitamin C appropriately.
