Is icteric hepatitis generally easy to treat?

In modern society, people's living standards are improving, but their dietary structure is changing frequently and can easily cause diseases. Some colds and fevers are better, but major problems involving the important liver organ require timely treatment. Hepatitis is a disease that everyone is familiar with. The liver is one of the important organs in our body, and icteric hepatitis should be a more serious disease than hepatitis. So is icteric hepatitis easy to cure? We need to analyze this issue. The most important thing is to improve your lifestyle habits.

1. Rest

Get adequate rest. Patients with severe symptoms such as jaundice should choose to rest in bed.

2. Diet

Provide a light, nutritious and easily digestible diet, paying attention to the intake of protein and vitamins. Those who have difficulty eating due to nausea and vomiting and who are calorie deficient should receive daily infusions to supplement their nutrition.

3. Intervention measures

Take appropriate intervention measures for different causes of the disease to stop the continuous harm of liver-damaging factors, such as stopping taking liver-damaging drugs that may cause drug-induced hepatitis, stopping radiation exposure for patients with radiation hepatitis, and standardizing antiviral treatment for patients with hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

4. Others

The vast majority of acute hepatitis does not require antiviral treatment, but once jaundice appears, it indicates that the liver damage is severe. It is recommended that hospitalization be arranged for effective liver protection and jaundice treatment. Commonly used jaundice-reducing drugs include S-adenosylmethionine and ursodeoxycholic acid, etc. Combined with other liver protection and anti-inflammatory drugs, it is beneficial to promote the rapid disappearance of jaundice.

The prognosis of icteric hepatitis is related to the cause. Most patients with mild to moderate jaundice can recover within 1 to 3 months after effective liver protection and jaundice reduction treatment. More severe icteric hepatitis indicates cholestasis or severe hepatitis, and the prognosis is poor. Severe hepatitis is often accompanied by massive liver necrosis, leading to acute liver failure, with a mortality rate of over 60%.

(1) Hepatitis B patients may not be isolated for a fixed period of time. For hospitalized cases, they can be discharged as long as their liver function is stable. HBsAg carriers in the recovery period should be followed up regularly.

(2) Personnel who have direct contact with ingested food and childcare workers should undergo regular health examinations every year. Patients in the acute phase who remain normal within six months after recovery and whose HBsAg turns negative can resume their original work.

(3) Chronic patients should be removed from jobs involving direct contact with ingested food and childcare. The original work should be suspended until the suspected case is confirmed. Blood donors must be strictly screened in accordance with national regulations.

From the above content, we understand the question of whether jaundice hepatitis is easy to cure. This is related to the cause of the patient's disease. It still requires proper rest, improved diet structure, and avoid eating greasy food, raw, cold, and spicy food. Don’t drink cold water, don’t stay up late often, etc. However, there are still some serious patients whose lives and health are endangered. Of course, chronic patients can still rely on treatment to maintain their lives.
