What causes aplastic anemia?

In the eyes of most people, anemia is a very common disease, but anemia is not fatal. It can be well prevented as long as you eat more blood-enriching foods. However, there are many types of anemia, one of which is aplastic anemia. This is not a simple anemia, it is a life-threatening disease. Many people don’t know much about aplastic anemia. What is aplastic anemia?

Aplastic anemia is a failure of the hematopoietic system. The red bone marrow that originally had hematopoietic function gradually transforms into yellow bone marrow that has no hematopoietic function. After the death of normal blood cells, the body cannot replenish new cells in a timely and sufficient manner, resulting in symptoms such as anemia and low white blood cell count. Hormones are usually used to stimulate cells that still have hematopoietic functions, accelerating their differentiation into various blood cells and placing the human body in a relatively safe environment.

Aplastic anemia is divided into acute and chronic types. Acute aplastic anemia has a rapid onset, a rapid course, and an extremely high short-term mortality rate. Chronic aplastic anemia progresses slowly, and patients can survive with the disease for more than ten or even twenty years, but their quality of life will be greatly reduced. Currently, the only way to cure aplastic anemia is bone marrow transplantation, but the success rate is not optimistic.

Aplastic anemia is neither acute nor chronic. The acute symptoms are more severe, with bleeding in many areas and potentially life-threatening. Although chronic aplastic anemia is not as dangerous as acute one, it is not optimistic either. Therefore, if you find that you or your friends and family have symptoms of aplastic anemia, you must go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
