What are the dietary principles for gout treatment

What are the dietary principles for gout treatment

Once gout occurs, active treatment is required. Of course. Don't care about the need to treat it seriously. And you need to take your diet seriously. But many people, even if they have gout, like to eat hot pot or even drink beer in the summer. This is often very harmful. What are the dietary principles for gout treatment?

1. Maintain an ideal weight

If you are overweight or obese, you should lose weight.

However, weight loss should be gradual, otherwise it may easily lead to ketosis or acute gout attacks.

2. Carbohydrates can promote the excretion of uric acid

Carbohydrates can promote the excretion of uric acid. Patients can eat rice, steamed buns, pasta, etc. that are rich in carbohydrates.

3. Protein intake can be based on body weight and proportion

The protein intake should be 0.8 to 1 gram per kilogram of body weight, mainly from milk and eggs. If it is lean meat, chicken, duck, etc., it should be boiled and then eaten without soup. Avoid eating stewed or braised meat.

4. Eat less fat

Eat less fat, because fat can reduce the excretion of uric acid. For patients with gout and hyperlipidemia, fat intake should be controlled within 20% to 25% of total calories.

5. Drink plenty of water and eat less salt

You should drink 2000ml to 3000ml of water every day to promote the excretion of uric acid.

The amount of salt you eat should be limited to 2 to 5 grams per day.

6. Limit purine intake.

Purine is a component in the cell nucleus. Any food that contains cells contains purine, and animal foods contain more purine. Patients are forbidden to eat offal, bone marrow, seafood, fermented food, beans, etc.

7. No alcohol! Use less strong seasonings or spices.

Alcohol can easily cause lactic acid accumulation in the body, inhibit the excretion of uric acid, and easily induce gout.

In addition, it is not advisable to use drugs that inhibit uric acid excretion.

8. Nutrient distribution

Under the premise of limiting total calories, the distribution principle of the three major nutrients is: high carbohydrates, moderate protein and low fat. ① Carbohydrates: Rice, flour, vegetables and fruits should account for 55% to 60% of total calories. This is also in line with the eating habits of Chinese people. In this way, it can reduce the decomposition of fat and produce ketone bodies, which is beneficial to the excretion of urate.

Warm reminder: In fact, there are many dietary principles for the treatment of gout. Not only do you need to maintain a reasonable weight, but you also need to eat some carbohydrates. Not only can you eat some steamed buns, but you can also eat some fresh noodles. At this time, patients should not eat spicy food casually.
