How do sperm die?

Everyone knows that sperm are born in the testicles, but where do they die?

1. Died of acid in the vagina

The pH value in the vagina is about 4.0, which is completely unsuitable for microorganisms and sperm. Although semen contains certain alkaline substances (such as secretions from the seminal vesicles) that can play a certain neutralizing role when sperm enters the vagina, ejaculation is a one-time event, and acidic substances in the vagina are continuously produced. So, if you stay too long, you will die!

2. Swimming to death

The length of a sperm is about 60 microns, while the length of a woman's vagina is 8 centimeters (80,000 microns). If it weren't for ejaculation, the distance to the vagina alone would be enough for the tadpoles to travel. In addition, you have to break through obstacles such as cervical mucus. If your body is not healthy, you will die before you even see the shadow of an egg! The body is the capital of revolution, and this is absolutely true!

3. Lost and fainted

Normally, a woman releases only one egg at a time, with the ovaries on both sides ovulating alternately. This is so tragic for the sperm - there are two fallopian tubes, and no sign at the "fork in the road"! It must be intentional! There is always a part of the sperm that takes the wrong path and embarks on a road of no return from which they will never meet the egg. As for the sperm that enter through tubes that have no chance of fertilization...it's a tragedy!

4. Died of thirst on the wall or on the ground

During sexual intercourse, sperm that enters the vagina through ejaculation can survive for about 5 days. However, if you scatter the seeds on the wall or the ground, their life span will be much shorter! Sperm exposed to the air will dehydrate and die within a few minutes!

5. Died of smoke or alcohol

The nicotine in cigarettes can interfere with the secretion of sex hormones in men and have a direct killing effect on sperm. In addition, long-term and heavy drinking can also affect sperm development.

6. Death from heat

Everyone on earth knows that the reason why testicles are hung outside the body is to maintain a lower temperature to ensure the normal production of sperm. Temporary poor heat dissipation will cause the quality of sperm to decline for a period of time, and if it is hot and stuffy for a long time, it will greatly affect the survival rate and quality of sperm.

7. Death by radiation

Ionizing radiation will cause a certain degree of damage to various cells in the human body. Of course, sperm cannot escape either. (See Why Sperm Is Abnormal)

8. Died after hitting a condom

If unfortunately a condom is used, the sperm's evil thoughts of seducing the egg will basically be ruined. They can only spend the rest of their lives miserably in latex containers.

9. Swallowed by macrophages after vasectomy

Vasectomy is a method of sterilization that involves severing and then tying off the vas deferens (which sounds painful). In this way, after the sperm is produced from the testicles, it can no longer be discharged from the body normally, let alone combine with the egg cell. So where do these sperm go? Observations in the human body have found that after vasectomy, macrophages will engulf the sperm. However, other ways of eliminating sperm have been discovered in animal experiments. For example, the epididymis of cows can reabsorb 50% of the sperm produced daily.

10. Those who died from possession of Treponema pallidum

The spirochete is a small, slender, spiral-shaped microorganism with a pointed end. It is mainly transmitted to humans through sexual contact, the placenta, the birth canal, and a very small number of people are infected through non-sexual contact, blood transfusion, indirect contact, etc. The survival rate and motility of sperm infected with Treponema pallidum are lower than those of normal sperm, and they are more prone to deformities.

11. Killed by spermicide

In fact, it is not just spermicides that people actively use for contraception. There are many other substances in life that can secretly threaten human sperm. Pollutants in the air or drugs used to treat cancer can be toxic to sperm.

12. He died staying at home!

The epididymis is the storage depot for sperm. Sperm from the testicle must be stored in the epididymis for a certain period of time before it has the ability to fertilize the egg. However, sperm stored for a long time will undergo degradation changes due to aging and inactivation, such as acrosome deformation, changes in DNA content and chromosomes, etc.
