The dangers of long-term heavy drinking

As the saying goes, no feast is complete without wine. Wine has always occupied an indispensable and important position in my country's long-standing food culture and social culture. Drinking with big gulps is also a common portrayal in ancient Chinese literature to describe the heroism of warriors. However, although drinking is a kind of enjoyment for wine lovers, long-term and excessive drinking can cause serious harm to our health and even threaten our lives.

The harm of long-term drinking:

(1) Drinking large amounts of alcohol can cause the following adverse effects: 1. Death: Alcohol can inhibit the respiratory center in the medulla oblongata, causing respiratory arrest. In addition, a drop in blood sugar can also be a fatal factor. 2. Malabsorption syndrome causes various vitamin deficiencies which indirectly lead to a variety of nervous system damage.

(2) Effects of long-term heavy drinking 1. Liver damage: Fat accumulates in the liver and causes fatty liver. 2. Gastric ulcer: can cause gastric bleeding and endanger life. 3. Nervous system damage: such as peripheral neuropathy. 4. Cerebral cortical atrophy: Reports show that some chronic alcoholics have cerebral cortical atrophy, and some patients also show signs of intellectual decline.

(3) Impact of alcoholism on family life: 1. Emotional agitation, temper tantrums, poor judgment and control, prone to conflict with others, sensitive to external stimuli, and high crime rate. 2. Spouses and children often become targets of violent attacks. 3. Being absent-minded affects work efficiency. 4. Alienation from friends and family causes alcoholics to suffer greater psychological frustration and pressure, leading to a vicious cycle of self-destruction.

Some friends have to drink due to work-related social events, some want to numb themselves with alcohol, and some enjoy the relaxation that alcohol causes the body to feel. No matter what the reason, drinking should be moderate, as little as possible or avoided if possible. Otherwise, long-term and excessive drinking will not only harm your health, but may also cause serious consequences.
