Except for the palms and soles of the feet, this birthmark can appear on any part of the body, especially exposed parts of the body. Most of them occur in infants before the age of 5, and the probability of occurrence is about 1%.

If only a few café au lait spots appear, there are generally no adverse effects; but if there are more than 15 and the diameter of each spot is greater than 1.5 cm, the chance of developing neurofibromatosis increases significantly.

Treatment: Simple café au lait spots do not require treatment. If they affect the appearance, laser treatment can be used.

Verrucous nevus

Verrucous nevus is a benign skin tumor caused by abnormal epidermal development. It usually occurs in infancy and increases with age, manifesting as dense light brown papules arranged in lines, which affects the appearance and is occasionally complicated by central nervous system diseases such as epilepsy and mental retardation.

Treatment: Cryosurgery, laser or surgical removal may be used.
