What is rapeseed meal

What is rapeseed meal

Rapeseed meal is mainly used for feeding. When piglets are in the growth and development period, breeders can add rapeseed meal in appropriate amounts. Substances that can digest protein must be added to rapeseed meal to digest food. Sometimes, the quality of rapeseed meal will also be affected by the processing process, which will cause the effectiveness of lysine to be damaged. Therefore, rapeseed meal is greatly restricted in the feeding process. The content of sulfur amino acids in rapeseed meal is very high, while soybean meal does not contain such energy as sulfur amino acids.

The color of rapeseed meal is dark yellow, and it also contains white small crystals. The yellow shape is much larger than the small crystals. The content of seeds in rapeseed meal is much higher than that in soybean meal, and some are even twice as much. So what exactly is rapeseed meal? The following will give you a detailed introduction!

During the growth and fattening stage, the amount of rapeseed meal can be appropriately increased, but the diet must be formulated based on digestible amino acids. This is because the digestibility of essential amino acids in rapeseed meal is worse than that of soybean meal. If the diet is formulated based on digestible amino acids, adding 10% to 15% rapeseed meal to the feed will not affect the growth performance of the animal, and the feed intake will not decrease. There is no significant difference in feed conversion rate and ketone body quality.

Rapeseed meal can be added to the diet of sows. Generally, there is no difference in reproductive performance between not adding rapeseed meal and adding less than 8% rapeseed meal to the diet of sows, and it has no effect on litter size. That is, rapeseed meal can be added as a protein feed at any stage of the reproductive period of sows and young pigs, but it is recommended not to add too much because of palatability issues.

One thing you should remember is that some imported rapeseed meal is not necessarily more expensive than domestic rapeseed meal, and may even be much cheaper than domestic rapeseed meal, but it tastes very bitter, each grain is very hard, and the quality is not very good. The reason why Canadian rapeseed meal is expensive is because some soybean meal is mixed into the rapeseed meal to improve the quality, so the price is so high. In recent years, the price of rapeseed meal has also skyrocketed.
