The best treatment for paronychia

When treating diseases in outpatient clinics, we often encounter patients with paronychia. In fact, paronychia is a very common disease. In general, patients with the disease suffer from soft tissue infection on both sides of the big toe nail. But what is the best treatment for this paronychia? Can this disease be cured?

When paronychia occurs, the soft tissue on both sides of the big toe nail will be infected. In comparison, it is very rare on the patient's fingers, and the inflamed areas are all at the base of people's fingernails. Although this situation is a minor illness, the infected part of your body is very red, swollen, painful, and oozing fluid and pus, and cannot be touched. It is necessary to understand the best treatment for paronychia.

First of all, let’s talk about prevention. Prevention is better than cure. Paronychia is usually caused by cutting the toenails too deeply. People often complain: My big toe nail has grown into the flesh, so I want to cut the ingrown nail off. I think it's not a big deal if the toenail grows into the flesh, and this happens to many people. But you must never cut the ingrown toenail, because after you deliberately dig out the tip of the toenail, there will be a small wound here, and bacteria will invade, causing paronychia, which will cause you pain. Inflammation of the big toe is more difficult to heal. Therefore, it is better to leave the toenails a little longer and cut them flat when trimming them, instead of deliberately trimming the two corners that grow into the flesh. Paronychia is usually caused by tearing the skin thorns under the nails. Therefore, if you have skin thorns, you should cut them with nail clippers and never tear them.

Second, about treatment. Paronychia is mainly treated with medication. If there is no severe redness, swelling or pus discharge, antibiotics are generally not needed. If paronychia has just started, you can soak the wound in tincture of Sanisol at least 3 times a day for 5-10 minutes each time. To ensure that the medicine fully soaks the wound, it is best to cut off the toenails that block the wound and expose it well. After soaking, you can use a Band-Aid to protect the wound. Also, the wound should not come into contact with water, and you should be very careful to protect it when washing your feet and taking a bath. Mild paronychia can be cured by soaking. If there is no improvement after soaking, the course of the disease is slightly longer, and there will generally be granular granulation hyperplasia at the nail groove wound, pus discharge, and soft tissue swelling. At this time, it is best to remove the proliferating granulation tissue and eliminate the breeding ground of bacteria in one fell swoop. At the same time, immersion therapy can reach the affected area directly. This operation can be performed in the outpatient clinic. By the way, a small amount of toenail can be removed from the affected area. However, it is quite painful, so you can inject some local anesthetic. After debridement, go home and continue to soak in the medicine. You can also take oral antibiotics. Generally, you can recover.

Although this type of paronychia is a minor illness, it can easily cause irritation to people's skin beauty and physical and mental health. Therefore, after suffering from paronychia, it is recommended that we pay attention to the treatment of the disease, especially the best treatment method for paronychia, which must be found out in time so that paronychia can recover as soon as possible.
