What injection should I get for arthritis

Arthritis is a very common disease of the human skeleton. Arthritis can easily lead to redness, swelling and pain in the joints, and will also affect the normal movement of the joints. Arthritis needs to be treated in time, and injections are a very common treatment method. It is achieved through intravenous injection of drugs. Antibiotics can be injected for treatment.

What injections are given for arthritis?

If arthritis treatment requires intramuscular or intravenous injection, the following drugs may be used:

First, antibiotics, which are mainly used for some infectious arthritis, that is, infection inside the joint cavity or around the joint, which leads to inflammation or damage inside the joint. In this case, sensitive antibiotics should be used for treatment. The choice of antibiotics needs to be finally determined based on bacterial culture and drug sensitivity testing of secretions. Before that, some antibiotics can be used empirically.

Second, drugs to eliminate inflammation and relieve pain. The most commonly used here are some non-steroidal drugs, but currently this type of drug is mainly taken orally. In addition, in some more serious inflammations, we need to use glucocorticoids for a short period of time, such as hydrocortisone or prednisone, etc.

Third, drugs injected into the joint cavity, such as sodium hyaluronate, but this type of drug has strict indications for use, such as excluding some infectious diseases, and strictly following the aseptic operation process during the operation to prevent intra-articular infection.

Causes

The causes of arthritis are complex and are mainly related to factors such as autoimmune reactions, infections, metabolic disorders, trauma, and degenerative diseases. Depending on the cause, arthritis can be divided into skeletal, rheumatoid, ankylosing, reactive, gouty, rheumatic, suppurative, etc.

Classification

Many diseases can cause arthritis. The most common types of arthritis are:

1. Osteoarthritis

Also known as degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis. Bone hyperplasia is closely related to human aging. Most elderly people may suffer from bone hyperplasia and are naturally prone to osteoarthritis. Clinical data show that the prevalence of osteoarthritis in people under 45 years old is only 2%, while the prevalence in people over 65 years old is as high as 68%. In the doctor's opinion, people suffer from osteoarthritis to varying degrees when they get old.

2. Rheumatoid arthritis

The disease often manifests as pain in small joints (finger joints, wrist joints, etc.), and the affected joints are symmetrical. 80% of rheumatoid arthritis patients are between 35 and 50 years old, but the elderly and young children can also develop the disease. Because its cause is complexly related to genetics, infection, environment, and immunity, it cannot be completely cured clinically. It can only be controlled through drug treatment to maintain joint function.

3. Ankylosing spondylitis

It often manifests as axial joint lesions such as the spine and sacroiliac joints. The cause of the disease is unclear, but it is generally believed to be caused by the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. The disease is more common in males, and the age of onset is usually before the age of 40. Severe cases can lead to spinal and joint deformities and affect daily life.

4. Reactive arthritis

Inflammatory joint lesions triggered by extra-articular infectious factors such as those from the intestinal system and urinary system. It has a certain preventive and therapeutic effect by reducing the infection rate and improving immunity.
