What are acne scars? Most acne scars are caused by acne infection, inflammation and external force. Acne, also known as acne and folliculitis, is a skin disease caused by blockage and inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Acne scars are a repair response of the body to damaged skin tissue. When the skin damage reaches deep into the dermis or a large area of the epidermis is damaged, the epidermis in that area cannot regenerate and will be replaced by dermal fibroblasts, collagen and proliferating blood vessels, resulting in acne scars. The main factor causing acne scars in our lives is the failure to promptly treat acne, which causes inflammation of facial cells and damages the skin tissue. There are many types and manifestations of acne scars. The following mainly introduces the forms and types of acne scars: 1. Black acne marks: It is caused by pigmentation after acne inflammation, which leaves dark and dirty colors in the places where red acne has grown, making the skin dull. These black colors will actually disappear slowly over time. This is a temporary false scar and not a real scar. 2. Red acne marks: This is because the cells at the original acne site become inflamed, causing blood vessels to dilate. However, the blood vessels do not shrink immediately after the acne disappears, and a flat, red, temporary erythema is formed. It will become redder when the skin temperature rises or when you exercise. This erythema is not considered a scar and will gradually fade away within half a year. 3. Concave acne scars: This is a common situation. When the acne inflammation is too severe and damages too much collagen in the dermis, it is possible to leave pits due to the collapse of the dermis. Many acne patients like to squeeze pimples with their hands. If the squeezing is improper, it will greatly increase the chance of suppurative infection, and it will easily turn small blackheads and pimples into big pimples, which will then leave scars. Once a hole is formed, it will not disappear automatically. 4. Hypertrophic convex scars: It is usually determined by the congenital constitution, is the most difficult to treat, and is prone to relapse. This type of scar is the exact opposite of a pit-shaped scar. It is an overly thickened scar that leaves obvious red protrusions where acne occurred. It looks red and swollen, and what’s more serious is that it will slowly grow due to scratching or external stimulation. It often occurs in people with special physical conditions. Because the fibroblasts in the dermis of their skin are too active, they overreact during the wound healing process. As a result, after the dermis is injured due to inflammation, it does not become concave but bulges out, turning into hypertrophic skin tissue hyperplasia. 5. Pigmented acne marks: Black and white plane scars are a general term for pigmented scars and depigmented scars. Black and white plane scars are mostly caused by mild burns, scalds and abrasions, and the pathology is in the epidermis and superficial dermis. What are acne scars and why do they occur? I believe that through this article everyone has a certain understanding. The key to preventing acne scars is prevention. If you have acne, you should treat it as soon as possible to avoid leaving permanent acne scars. The earlier you cure it, the less likely it is to leave acne scars. Also, acne scars will gradually fade and become lighter with the skin's metabolism. |
