New infectious disease prevention and control law

H7N9 avian influenza is a new type of avian influenza. The incubation period of infection with H7N9 avian influenza is generally 7 days. Patients will experience symptoms such as fever, cough, and little sputum, as well as headache and general discomfort. The disease progresses rapidly and can cause damage to the patient's kidneys and may also cause shock, posing a great threat to the patient. Since it appeared in Shanghai and Anhui in 2013, it has caused the deaths of many patients.

Avian influenza is classified as a Class B infectious disease in the new Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Law. However, due to its strong infectiousness and serious harm, preventive measures must be taken as a Class A infectious disease after approval by the State Council. If it is approved first and then announced, it is easy to miss the opportunity and lead to serious consequences.

H7N9 avian influenza is so harmful to patients, how can we prevent it in our daily lives? Experts say that avian influenza viruses are generally sensitive to heat and have strong resistance to low temperatures. They can be inactivated by heating at 65°C for 30 minutes or boiling (100°C) for more than 2 minutes. The virus can survive in feces at a lower temperature for one week and in water at 4°C for one month. It has a certain resistance to acidic environments and has a certain survival ability under pH 4.0 conditions. In the presence of glycerol, it can maintain activity for more than 1 year.

Knowledge on prevention and treatment of H7N9 avian influenza:

The first is to maintain good living habits. Pay attention to nutritional balance, maintain adequate sleep and rest. Travelers should eat more fruits and drink more water, do not eat unclean fruits and vegetables, do not drink raw water, do not smoke, do not drink excessively, and avoid fatigue.

Second, pay attention to maintaining personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently and ventilate your home frequently. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief when you sneeze, cough or wipe your nose.

Third, during travel, if you have respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, etc., go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately.

Fourth, when going out for an outing, do not get close to unidentified wild birds. Do not touch sick or dead wild birds, and do not pick them up or skin them and eat them. Avoid direct contact with, skinning or eating dead poultry, dead pigs, etc.

Fifth, keep raw and cooked food separate in the kitchen. Any meat and eggs should be thoroughly cooked before eating. Remember not to eat raw or half-cooked chicken, goose, duck or other types of meat. In particular, be careful not to eat half-cooked eggs.

Sixth, the elderly, weak, or young people with poor resistance should pay more attention to personal hygiene and self-protection, avoid crowded places, prepare clothes, food and water when traveling, bring their own medicines if they have underlying diseases, and seek medical attention in time if they feel unwell.

Do you know how to prevent H7N9 avian influenza? In recent years, H7N9 avian influenza has been particularly rampant. Everyone must pay more attention. When eating eggs, they must be cooked thoroughly and the egg white and egg yolk must be completely solidified before eating. If pink gravy still flows out when cooking poultry, it cannot be eaten and should be re-cooked until fully cooked.
