Precautions for enema, what diseases are not suitable for enema

Enema is the process of injecting medicine into the anus, which is retained in the rectum and colon and absorbed by the intestinal mucosa to achieve the purpose of curing the disease. However, we cannot use enema to treat diseases casually, because there are many precautions when using enema. Let's take a look at the introduction of enema knowledge.

If you want to know the precautions for enema , you must understand the use of enema method. The so-called enema method refers to the use of a catheter inserted from the anus through the rectum to the colon to infuse liquid, which has the therapeutic effect of relieving constipation and exhausting gas. It is a commonly used medical treatment measure. It can stimulate intestinal peristalsis, soften and clear feces, and has the effects of cooling, inducing labor, diluting intestinal toxins and reducing absorption. In addition, it can also achieve therapeutic purposes such as supplying medicines, nutrition, water, etc.

Master the temperature, concentration, flow rate, pressure and amount of the solution. When giving enema to patients with typhoid fever, the solution should not exceed 500 ml and the pressure should be low (the liquid level should not exceed 30 cm above the anus). If it is a cooling enema, use 28-32℃ isotonic saline or 4℃ isotonic saline. Keep it for 30 minutes before excreting it. Measure the body temperature half an hour after defecation and keep records. Patients in hepatic coma are prohibited from using soap water enema to reduce the production and absorption of ammonia.

Instruct patients to develop normal bowel habits, eat more fruits and vegetables, drink more water and exercise more. Observe the patient's condition at any time during the enema. If you find a rapid pulse, pale face, cold sweat, severe abdominal pain, or palpitations and shortness of breath, stop the enema immediately and notify the doctor. Contraindications: Enema is not suitable for patients with pregnancy, acute abdomen, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

However, there are many things to pay attention to when doing enema. When people need to undergo enema treatment, they must pay attention to some taboos and cannot perform enema at will. Especially when the patient feels unwell, they must notify the doctor in time and take active diagnosis and treatment measures to avoid endangering their health.
