What kind of bleeding in nasopharyngeal carcinoma should be treated?

More and more people are suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer. When it is serious, it will affect our daily life. What are the symptoms of bleeding when nasopharyngeal cancer is serious? Is there any treatment?

What does nasopharyngeal cancer bleeding look like?

Bleeding is an early symptom of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which manifests as blood in sputum after nasal suction or blood in mucus when blowing the nose. The early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are only a small amount of blood in sputum or mucus, which sometimes appears and sometimes does not. In the late stage, there is more bleeding, and there may be nosebleeds. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is the easiest and most treatable malignant tumor, and the prognosis is generally good. But the premise is that the treatment must be timely.

If the first inhaled secretion in the morning, that is, the sputum that is spit out after sniffing the nose, contains blood, you should be alert. This is the earliest sign of nasopharyngeal cancer. At this time, it is recommended to go to a hospital specialist for necessary examinations to prevent misdiagnosis. Nasopharyngeal cancer also has symptoms such as painless lumps in the neck, hearing loss or otitis media, and long-term nasal congestion, while bleeding is already a symptom of the later stage.

How to care for nasopharyngeal cancer bleeding?

When there is a small amount of blood in the mucus, ephedrine can be used locally to stop bleeding; when there is moderate bleeding, ephedrine, adrenaline gauze or nasal cotton can be used to stop bleeding locally, and hemostatic drugs can be injected intramuscularly; when there is a large amount of bleeding, the patient should not swallow the blood, stay calm, and report to the doctor in time for rescue. Let the patient lie flat; infusion, blood transfusion, prepare oxygen and sputum suction, place ice packs on the upper part of the nose, use vaseline gauze to pack the posterior nasal foramen of the nasopharynx to compress and stop bleeding, intravenously drip a large amount of hemostatic agents, and closely observe changes in blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

The nasopharynx is rich in blood vessels. Some nasopharyngeal tumors may cause ulcers when they grow to a certain size, and local mucosal tissue damage caused by radiation may easily bleed. Therefore, do not pinch your nose, pick your nose, or blow your nose hard. If there is a small amount of bleeding, you can place an ice pack on the upper part of your nose. If there is a large amount of bleeding, immediately tilt your head to one side, press the external carotid artery with your fingers to stop the bleeding, and notify medical staff immediately.

Active cooperation in daily life can help recover from the disease.
