How long can you live with advanced testicular cancer

The expected survival time for patients with advanced testicular cancer depends on how far the cancer has spread, the treatment method, and the patient's overall health. With appropriate treatment, long-term survival is still possible.

Testicular cancer is a malignant tumor that originates from the male reproductive glands. It is usually better to treat when it is detected in the early stages, but advanced testicular cancer means that the cancer cells have spread to distant places such as lymph nodes, lungs or other organs. Fortunately, testicular cancer is sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and young men are generally in good health, so even in the late stages, it is still possible to improve survival through active treatment.

Advanced testicular cancer is divided into two categories: "poor prognosis" and "good prognosis", which are distinguished by blood tumor markers, tumor spread sites, and primary cancer types. For patients with "good prognosis", the 5-year survival rate is usually above 70%, and even for "poor prognosis", many patients can achieve significantly longer survival time through more aggressive chemotherapy and surgical intervention. The process may be accompanied by fatigue, nausea or other side effects, but these symptoms can be relieved by medication.

Once advanced testicular cancer is diagnosed, treatment should be started as soon as possible, including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy if necessary, and close cooperation with the doctor's follow-up. Maintaining healthy living habits, a proper diet, and a good mental state can help enhance the treatment effect. At the same time, the support of family and friends is also very important. Timely consultation with a professional doctor to understand the treatment plan that suits you is the key to improving prognosis.
