Preventive care for patients with bladder cancer

Preventive care for patients with bladder cancer

The prognosis care for bladder cancer should first do a good job in the patient's mind, stabilize the patient's negative and uneasy emotions, encourage the patient to accept treatment, and help the patient build up the confidence to overcome the disease mentally. And encourage the patient to make long-term mental preparations to fight bladder cancer tenaciously to the end.

In the prognosis care of bladder cancer, attention should be paid to adverse reactions after surgery, such as bleeding, pain, abdominal distension, etc. When found, the patient should actively cooperate with the doctor for symptomatic treatment. For bladder cancer patients, in terms of dietary care, they should choose easily digestible and nutritious foods and foods with anti-cancer effects, such as cabbage, cauliflower, radish, cabbage, rapeseed, shepherd's purse, and fresh fruits such as kiwi, fig, banana, and jujube. The occurrence of bladder cancer is positively correlated with fat intake, but negatively correlated with vitamin A and carotenoids. Diet therapy can also help the recovery of the disease to a certain extent.

Patients who retain their bladder after bladder cancer surgery can receive BCG or other drugs instilled into the bladder cavity after surgery to prevent recurrence. The urine should be emptied before BCG instillation into the bladder, and urination should not be allowed for two hours after instillation. The body position should be changed every 15 minutes during this period. Six BCG instillations constitute a course of treatment, which is then repeated once a month for two years. Its adverse reactions include frequent urination, painful urination, and low fever. A small number of patients may develop tuberculous cystitis and need to receive anti-tuberculosis treatment if necessary. Whether patients who have had their bladder completely removed need systemic treatment to prevent recurrence should be determined by the doctor based on the specific situation.

The most worrying problem for bladder cancer patients after surgery is postoperative recurrence and metastasis. Most patients who undergo bladder preservation surgery will relapse within two years. The most common sites of postoperative recurrence of bladder cancer are: local lymph nodes in the near area, lungs, liver, bones, etc. in the distant area. If local lymph nodes metastasize or adjacent tissues are invaded, the patient may have discomfort or pain in the lower abdomen. For patients who retain the bladder, signs of recurrence include hematuria, frequent urination, painful urination, and some people also have difficulty urinating or urine retention. In the prognosis care of bladder cancer, patients should pay attention to the importance of examinations and go to the hospital for regular follow-up examinations. Regular follow-up examinations are generally conducted every three months. If there is no recurrence after one year, the examination time can be appropriately extended.

In the prognosis care of bladder cancer, when bladder cancer recurs after surgery, family members and medical staff should help patients abandon negative and resistant emotions and actively accept re-treatment. There is still a possibility of cure. For advanced patients or patients who cannot undergo surgery due to other conditions, laser treatment can be used to relieve bladder cancer symptoms and control bleeding. For patients with pain and dysuria caused by metastasis to local pelvic lymph nodes or organs adjacent to the bladder, radiotherapy can also be considered. In addition, the effect of traditional Chinese medicine treatment on bladder cancer in clinical treatment is increasingly valued by patients and doctors.
