Late symptoms of spinal cancer

Late symptoms of spinal cancer

Symptoms of advanced spinal cancer:

Spinal bone cancer is a type of bone tumor, which is a tumor of the bone or its appendages. It is divided into benign and malignant. Malignant bone tumors, also known as bone cancer, develop rapidly, have a poor prognosis, and a high mortality rate. Malignant bone tumors are divided into primary and secondary. Malignant tumors from other tissues or organs in the body that metastasize to the bones through the blood circulation and lymphatic system are secondary malignant bone tumors.

Causes of advanced spinal cancer:

There is no definite cause of the disease. The internal causes include the theory of constitution, the theory of genes, the theory of endocrine, etc. The external causes include the theory of chemical elements, the theory of chronic stimulation of internal and external radiation, the theory of viral infection, etc.

The main symptoms of late-stage spinal cancer include:

1. Pain is the main symptom of bone tumors in the early stage. The disease is mild and intermittent. As the disease progresses, the pain may gradually increase and become persistent. Most patients experience worsening pain at night, affecting their sleep. The pain can radiate to distant places.

2. Swelling or lumps: Tumors located under the periosteum or superficially appear earlier, and bone expansion and deformation can be felt. If the tumor penetrates the bone, it may produce a fixed soft tissue mass with a smooth or uneven surface.

3. Functional impairment In the later stages of bone tumors, the function of the affected area will be hindered due to pain and swelling, which may be accompanied by muscle atrophy in the corresponding area.

4. Tumors that grow into the cranial cavity and nasal cavity can compress the brain and nasal tissues, causing intracranial pressure and poor breathing; pelvic tumors can compress the rectum and bladder, causing difficulty in defecation and urination; spinal tumors can compress the spinal cord and cause paralysis.

5. The deformity is caused by the tumor affecting the development and strength of the limb bones, which is more obvious in the lower limbs.

6. Pathological fractures. Even a slight external force on the tumor site can easily cause fractures. The dietary requirements are relatively strict, and you must eat according to the doctor's advice.
