How long does it take to get cervical cancer after being infected with HPV?

HPV infection may develop into cervical cancer 10-15 years later. There is a temporal relationship between HPV infection and the occurrence of cervical cancer. HPV has a high host specificity and mainly infects the floating squamous epithelium of the skin and mucous membranes of specific parts of the human body. Sexual contact is its main transmission route.

Persistent infection with HPV virus is the cause of cervical cancer, but there is still no unified concept of persistence at this stage. It is generally believed that persistence should be at least two years.

Early screening for cervical cancer

The method for early cervical cancer screening is mainly through human papillomavirus testing and cervical liquid-based thin-layer cytology testing, that is, HPV and TCT testing, to determine whether there are cervical lesions.

Cervical smear can detect tumor cells. The examination method for early cervical cancer is to perform cervical smear to detect tumor cells, check CT, and MRI to evaluate the size of the lesion, the infiltration situation, and guide the patient's choice of treatment plan. Early screening of cervical cancer generally refers to after cervical erosion occurs. This requires a TCT test once a year.

What are the symptoms of cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer is a common gynecological malignant tumor, with a peak age of 50 to 55 years old. In recent years, with the widespread use of cervical cytology screening, the incidence of cervical cancer has dropped significantly. Its clinical symptoms mainly include vaginal bleeding and vaginal discharge.

Irregular vaginal bleeding is often an early sign of cervical cancer. Many elderly patients come to the hospital for treatment with this symptom, and receive early diagnosis and timely treatment. Most of the early symptoms of cervical cancer are unclear, mainly manifested as contact bleeding, bloody leucorrhea, and vaginal discharge.
