What to do if the pain is severe after liver cancer ablation

What should I do if I feel severe pain after liver cancer ablation?

Ablation generally refers to radiofrequency ablation or microwave ablation. Liver cancer patients experience severe pain after ablation, which may be caused by their own disease, normal postoperative reactions, strenuous exercise, etc. It is recommended to alleviate the pain through active treatment, enhanced care, and the use of drugs.

1. Causes of disease:

Liver cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the liver. When the disease occurs, it can cause abdominal pain, lumps, jaundice and other discomfort symptoms. When the condition is serious, the continuous spread of tumor cells will compress the surrounding tissues, so it will be very painful. Patients are advised to undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy under the guidance of a doctor. If necessary, surgical treatment such as laparoscopic liver resection, liver transplantation, etc.

2. Normal reaction after surgery:

Radiofrequency ablation is an interventional procedure under the guidance of images to enter the tumor tissue, using a catheter or needle tip to generate radiofrequency current to accurately ablate the lesion. Microwave ablation uses the heat generated by microwaves to cause local cell necrosis, thereby achieving the purpose of eliminating the tumor. Since the lesion site will be stimulated to a certain extent during the treatment process, it will cause pain after anesthesia, which is a normal reaction. If the pain is severe, you can take painkillers to relieve it, such as acetaminophen tablets, ibuprofen sustained-release tablets, aspirin enteric-coated tablets, etc.

3. Vigorous exercise:

If you do not get enough rest after ablation, turning or exercising will cause excessive pulling on the lesion, which can also cause pain. Patients are advised to rest in bed and be gentle when moving.

In addition to the common causes mentioned above, there may also be postoperative complications, tumor cell rupture, metastasis of lesions, etc. It is recommended that family members give comfort and encouragement to patients and do a good job of nursing.
