The incidence of brain metastasis from lung cancer is as high as 35% to 50%, and is often misdiagnosed as cerebrovascular disease, primary brain tumor, tuberculous meningitis or intracranial hypertension, such as headache, vomiting, facial nerve paralysis, hemiplegia, blurred vision, aphasia and muscle weakness. Unexplained headache, vomiting, visual impairment, personality and temper changes in lung cancer patients may be caused by intracranial hypertension or cranial nerve damage caused by lung cancer metastasis to the brain.

Common in small cell lung cancer and adenocarcinoma. Headache is the most common symptom. Vomiting mainly occurs in severe headaches, characterized by projectile vomiting. Visual impairment indicates that the tumor affects, compresses or invades the optic nerve. In addition to the above common symptoms, lung cancer brain metastasis may also cause diplopia, paroxysmal blackouts, cataplexy, impaired consciousness, increased blood pressure, and slow pulse. In severe cases, brain herniation caused by tumor compression may cause respiratory arrest, endangering the patient's life.

Approximately 50% of lung cancer patients will eventually develop bone metastases in multiple locations. Bone metastasis is generally asymptomatic in the early stages, and bone isotope scanning can reveal bone lesions. Symptoms of bone metastasis are related to the location and number of tumor metastases. For example, chest pain caused by rib metastasis of lung cancer is mainly manifested as pain limited to the chest wall with clear tenderness points. Spinal cord metastasis causes pain in the middle of the back or the site of the lesion, and bone metastasis of the limbs or trunk causes localized pain. Bone metastasis is not a direct cause of life-threatening lung cancer patients, but if the tumor metastasizes to weight-bearing bones such as the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae, it can lead to serious consequences such as paralysis. Patients with bone metastasis of lung cancer should be treated promptly.
