Crab is a very common food in our daily life. Many people like to eat crabs. There are many ways to eat crabs. No matter which way you eat it, the taste and nutrition are very delicious. Crab is a very popular food. Sometimes we can't eat crabs easily. If we heat it again, I wonder if crabs can be heated in the microwave?

Can crabs be heated in the microwave?

It is best not to heat hairy crabs in a microwave.

This is because if crabs are put into a microwave oven, their legs will break off due to the rotation, and microwave ovens rely on the vibration of water molecules to heat. If crabs are heated, all the moisture in the crabs will be dried out, making the crabs dry and hard, making them difficult to eat.

In addition, although crabs that have been left overnight can be eaten, putting them in the refrigerator does not mean they can be eaten forever. There is a substance called histidine in overnight crabs, which will be decomposed into histamine under the action of some microorganisms. Although reheating can kill pathogenic microorganisms, it cannot destroy the toxins. Therefore, if you eat overnight crabs that have been stored for too long, it may still cause poisoning. Therefore, the best way to preserve overnight crabs is to cook them, wait for them to cool thoroughly, wrap them in plastic wrap, and put them in the freezer. If you want to eat it again, please do not exceed noon of the next day at the latest, and steam it over high heat just like you would steam raw crabs. This will ensure that it is as safe as possible without wasting it.

How to store hairy crabs

Method 1: Refrigerate hairy crabs (storage time: about 3 days)

Hairy crabs are fresh aquatic products with a short shelf life after leaving water. It is relatively simple to preserve hairy crabs if the quantity purchased can be eaten within about 3 days: select active hairy crabs, tie up the crab's legs and crab claws to reduce the crab's physical consumption, then place them in the refrigerator's freezer and cover them with a wet towel. When eating every day, choose the crabs that are less energetic and eat them first, and the crabs that are full of energy can continue to be preserved. The way to tell whether a crab is energetic or not is to touch its eyes gently with your hand, if it does not react quickly, eat it first.

Method 2: Store hairy crabs in plastic buckets/basins (storage time: about 7 days)

Prepare a 30-50 cm high plastic bucket/basin with a smooth inner wall that is difficult to escape. Put the hairy crabs in it without stacking them; then add water to half the height of the hairy crab's body to keep it moist. Be careful not to bury the hairy crabs completely. If the water is too deep, the crabs will suffocate and die due to lack of oxygen. Do not cover the bucket/basin, check the hairy crabs every day, and eat the ones that are not energetic enough in time. If you use this method to preserve hairy crabs, the hairy crabs can be preserved for more than 5 days when the temperature is not high.
