What is the cure rate of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and how to treat it

What is the treatment rate for nasopharyngeal carcinoma? How is it treated?

1. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma refers to a malignant tumor that occurs in the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Radiotherapy has always been the preferred method for treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The reason is that most nasopharyngeal carcinomas are poorly differentiated cancers with high sensitivity to radiation, and the primary lesions and the neck lymphatic drainage area are easily included in the irradiation field. Since the 1940s, my country has carried out deep X-ray radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Since the 1950s and 1960s, irradiation radiotherapy has been carried out, and the combined large-field irradiation of the nasopharynx and neck has been changed to small-field irradiation, which has reduced radiotherapy reactions and improved survival rates. At present, the most effective and most certain method is to use a teletherapy machine.

2. The average natural survival time of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is 18.7 months, and the natural survival time of stage IV is 7 to 9 months. The 5-year survival rate of patients treated with comprehensive treatment after radiotherapy is 50%. For individuals, it is related to factors such as the pathological type of tumor cells, clinical stage, classification, patient's physical condition, and psychological state. The 5-year survival rate of early nasopharyngeal carcinoma is about 50% on average, while that of mid- and late-stage patients is only 20%. The treatment rate of early and mid-stage patients is quite high, and the five-year survival rate is over 80%.

3. To improve the cure rate of early nasopharyngeal cancer, patients must strengthen their own immune function, adjust their mentality, and face the disease bravely. Patients with early nasopharyngeal cancer should pay attention to the combination of work and rest, pay attention to oral hygiene, and their body functions can be regulated through diet. It is advisable to eat nutrients rich in protein, vitamins, and amino acids, such as kelp, laver, asparagus, jellyfish, etc., and eat less salty food.
